Our clothing and accessories come from our charity and brand partners. We work with charity shops across the UK and Ireland who supply their best quality pieces and we ensure they get a fair price for those items.
We will only ever sell items that are in great condition. All of our items go through a rigorous quality check process before they are listed across our marketplaces. You can read more about our condition assessment here.
We currently don’t accept clothing donations from individuals. We would encourage you to donate them to a charity shop partnered with Haru or a charity shop supporting a cause that you care about. If you have a large collection of premium stock that you would like to donate, we are happy to have a chat about assisting you. Yes, if you buy a product which has come from one of our charity partners then money goes directly back to that charity. Haru only works if our charity partners get real value.
We want to see charity shops thrive, we believe they are a big part of communities and keep charity causes front of mind (our team also love shopping in them). We see our work as a partnership, enabling charities to effectively sell online and ensuring charities get a fair price for many of the items they receive.
The fashion industry accounts for about 10% of global carbon emissions, and nearly 20% of wastewater. And while the environmental impact of flying is now well known, fashion sucks up more energy than both aviation and shipping combined (BBC, 2020) Buying second-hand extends the life of clothing, reducing the environmental impact
We know working out what can be done about our environmental impact can be overwhelming. We feel that as much as anyone, so we try and focus on the small things that can add up to make a big difference. For instance:First, reuse. Where possible, when looking to buy clothes, buy second-hand, or borrow from friends and family.Websites like Love Your Clothes, set up by UK recycling charity WRAP, offer tips on repairing and extending the life of clothes.Where clothing has been worn or damaged beyond repair, the best way to dispose of them is to send them for recycling.
